Open your doors to the next generation.

Hosting a young person for work experience is one of the most powerful things a business can do — and one of the easiest ways to deliver real social value. Register your interest in offering a placement, and the BEA will match you with a local school or college and support you the whole way.

Two ways to take part

Which placement could you offer?

You can offer either — or both. Tell us what suits your business and we’ll match the right student.

For colleges · ages 16–19

T Level industry placements

T Level students complete a substantial industry placement — around 45 days (315+ hours) — applying real technical skills in a workplace. It’s a brilliant way to trial future talent and shape skills to your sector. Placements can be arranged flexibly, in blocks or on day-release.

For schools · Year 10

Two-week work experience

The classic first taste of the world of work: a Year 10 pupil spends a week or two with your team. Low commitment, huge impact — it builds confidence, raises aspirations, and gives a young person a story that can change their path.

For employers

Frequently asked

Do we have to pay the student?

Work experience and T Level industry placements are generally unpaid, though some employers choose to help with expenses such as travel or lunch. The BEA will confirm the arrangement for your specific placement.

What about safeguarding, DBS checks and insurance?

The BEA guides you through safeguarding, a simple risk assessment and what your employer’s liability insurance needs to cover. Most standard business policies already cover student placements, and we help you confirm it.

How much time does a placement take?

Year 10 work experience is typically one to two weeks. T Level industry placements are larger — around 45 days (315+ hours) — and can be arranged flexibly, in blocks or on day-release. The BEA helps you plan something that works for your business.

What kind of business can offer a placement?

Almost any — office, trade, retail, creative, technical, public sector and more. We match a student whose course or interests fit the work you do.

What support does the BEA provide?

We match you with a local school or college, provide a named contact and a simple placement agreement, and support both sides throughout — so hosting a student is straightforward.
