We believe you should see exactly what happens to your money. The Business & Education Alliance is a not-for-profit — the only thing taken from a donation is the small fee charged for processing a card payment securely. Everything else goes to the cause.
These are the only deductions — there is no separate platform charge. The BEA keeps no profit from your donation.

| Item | Calculation | Amount |
|---|
| Item | Calculation | Amount (GBP) |
|---|---|---|
| Donation amount | — | £10.00 |
| Percentage transaction fee | 1.9% of £10.00 | £0.19 |
| Fixed transaction fee | Flat rate | £0.20 |
| Total transaction fee (pre-VAT) | £0.19 + £0.20 | £0.39 |
| VAT on fees (20%) | 20% of £0.39 | £0.08 |
| Total fees deducted | £0.39 + £0.08 | £0.47 |
| Amount the cause receives | £10.00 − £0.47 | £9.53 |
So out of a £10 donation, £9.53 goes directly to the cause. If the donation is eligible for Gift Aid, the cause receives £9.53 + £2.50 = £12.03.
If you’re a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid lets the cause reclaim 25% of your donation from HMRC — at no extra cost to you. Just confirm you’re eligible when you give, and a £10 gift becomes worth £12.03 to a local school’s project.
Every pound you give — minus only the small processing fee — reaches a real project at a local school.
The fee rates shown (1.9% + £0.20, plus 20% VAT on the fee) are typical card-payment processing charges and are shown as an example — the BEA will confirm its payment provider’s exact rates, which may vary by card type and donation method. Gift Aid can only be claimed on eligible donations from UK taxpayers and is reclaimed from HMRC by the BEA on the cause’s behalf.
